Starring Brie Larson in the lead role, the latest superhero film from Marvel Cinematic Universe has turned out to be a huge hit at the box office.

There was a lot of negativity surrounding Captain Marvel before the release of the movie. So much so that its Rotten Tomatoes score was well, "Rotten" even before the movie was screened for the media or the fans. But, once the movie hit the screens, it received unanimous praise from the film critics as well as the general audience. Though there is still a section of toxic fandom who have sabotaged its Rotten Tomatoes score. We'll talk about that some other time.
Right now, the opening weekend numbers of the film are in and it has turned out to be a record breaker at the India box office as far as Hollywood films are concerned. It has become the second highest opening weekend grosser for any superhero film behind only Avengers: Infinity War. Not just that, at the worldwide box office as well, it is only behind Avengers: Infinity War for the highest opening weekend box office collection.
On its day 3, Captain Marvel made Rs 13.60 crore, taking its three day total to Rs 40.71 crore. Even though the collections on its day 3 saw a slight dip but that is because of the Cricket match between India and Australia, Moreover, the weekend collections of the movie are enough to ensure that it is a big success at the India box office.
At the worldwide box office, Captain Marvel is the second highest opening weekend grosser in the MCU behind the fourth highest grossing film of all time, Avengers: Infinity War. Early estimates suggest that the movie has made $450 million plus as compared to $640.5 million of Avengers: Infinity War.
